Joe Savikataaq was elected in the general election held on October 28, 2013, to represent the constituency of Arviat South in the 4th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut.

Prior to his election, Mr. Savikataaq was employed as a Conservation Officer with the Department of Environment, a position he held for close to 30 years. Mr. Savikataaq holds a diploma in the field of environmental and renewable resources management. Mr. Savikataaq has 20 years of service as an elected member of Arviat’s municipal council.

Joe and Susan Savikataaq have three children: Jamie, Joe Jr. and Wendy. Mr. Savikataaq’s personal interests include hunting, fishing, small aircraft piloting, boating and scuba diving. Mr. Savikataaq has been an active volunteer with community search and rescue activities.

We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected.
  • The Government of Nunavut does not normally use "cookies" to track how our visitors use this site or to determine sites previously visited. If cookies are in use and you have your cookies notification option activated on your browser the system will notify you before any cookies are used so that you may refuse them.
