Community Infrastructure
The long term goal and vision of the Community Infrastructure division is to provide all communities in Nunavut with a full complement of basic and supporting infrastructure to enable communities to become self-sufficient. This will allow communities to become economically, socially and culturally prosperous.
The mandate of the Community Infrastructure division is to secure and allocate both GN and federal funds for community infrastructure projects. The division must do so in an equitable, fair and transparent manner, balancing both community needs and regulatory requirements.
The division’s goals are achieved with the support of the NCIAC (Nunavut Community Infrastructure Advisory Committee) and the sustainability planning process. This process ensures that critical infrastructure gaps are identified, priority projects are brought to the forefront and essential infrastructure is provided for each community. The division also provides technical and project planning support for other CGS divisions in addition to funding various municipal training initiatives.
